Spooky Girl Reads & BYOB Tours are proud to present Awakening The Alventia Series I by Laura Greenwood.
About The Book
Take a journey to an alternate world where not everything is what it seems.
In an effort to have a child, the Queen makes a deal with the Dark King, but she soon discovers that the deal has dire consequences for her beloved Sleeping Beauty. In an effort to help, the Queen’s mother alters the curse so that Keira will sleep for 100 years, but there is a catch; if Keira awakens before then she may still be doomed.
After sleeping for over 90 years, Keira is awoken by Philip, the son of the Dark King and the one she was intended for. Despite sharing his father’s bloodline, Philip refuses to be like his father and won’t make Keira do anything that she isn’t ready for.
Supported by a powerful witch and her brother, Hansel and Gretel, Philip and Keira have to make a choice, one that will define Keira’s destiny. Changing their lives forever.

Excerpt from Awakening
It was a weird feeling falling into the sleep. It wasn’t like falling asleep in a bed and slipping slowly into unconsciousness. Rather this was sudden, and yet there was something about this sleep that wasn’t actually like sleep at all. Here’s what all the stories forget to mention; life goes on around the cursed. I can hear the people around me talking, and I can feel them move. I just can’t talk back to them. I find it hard to keep track of time when I can’t see, but I know that it has been a while. I get a lot of visitors, and that breaks my heart, especially my mother, she has sat by my bedside on several occasions and cried. Telling me how it was all her fault and that she wished she could change what she did. All I want to do when she is like that is take her hand and tell her that it is okay, that she didn’t do anything wrong. But I can’t and every time I realise that I feel my heart break a little more.
Sometimes I dream, well it is probably more like day dreaming considering I don’t think I am really asleep. Sometimes I dream of parties and balls, with bright colours, smiling faces and laughter. I like those dreams, the make me feel restful in an odd way. They make me feel like the youthful Princess I was rather than the cursed Princess that I am. The other dreams are the ones that scare me. The one I have the most is about a village, not one I have been to I don’t think. It is always night in those dreams, and instead of the beautiful ball gowns and laughter, I’m dressed in dark leathers and am creeping around, I can smell the coppery sweet smell of the villagers’ blood pumping through their veins. What scares me most is the way that that blood calls to me, how much I want it. To feel my lips on the soft skin of a throat and the sensation of sucking it into myself, the blood coating my tongue and throat as it nourishes me. I can’t control these dreams; if I could then what happens next wouldn’t happen at all. I come across a small child, a little girl no more than 8, her blood smells sweeter then the rest, and I start to drool. That’s when I notice that two of my teeth are sharper than before, and before I know it I am sinking them into the little girl’s neck and all the sensations I wanted feel like they’re actually happening. She gives a slight whimper as I start drawing blood, and that’s when I wake up.
