Arivaca by John Poulsen

I desperately wanted to like this book. I really did. The synopsis/description sounded so good! But in reality, the book just didn’t live up to expectations. As a general rule, by the time I hit Chapter 5 or 6, I expect to be fully engrossed in the story. Not so with Arivaca.

Unfortunately most of the book, to me, seemed to be filled with trivial things that had nothing to do with the plot – like it was just there to waste the reader’s time until the author finally got to the point. I realize that these trivial things could well have figured into the plot lines later, I just couldn’t get past them. The book just seemed far to boring for me to even continue reading.

The plot sounded like a great plot when I read the description and it very well could be if it weren’t for the fact that the book moves so very slowly. I can only give this one star because I truly prefer fast-paced mystery/thrillers and this definitely wasn’t a fast-paced book.

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
